Midsummer Mayhem
H. G. Fairfield Arts Center for the Environment is proud to announce that it will be hosting a 1960’s-themed production of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Lakeside Park, in the Town of Pawling, on Saturday evening, August 11th, 2012, at 8:30 pm
Midsummer Mayhem is a program we ran in and for the Town of Pawling in the summer of 2012. Aimed at introducing more people to excellent theater, to Shakespeare, and to the practice of utilizing public spaces for community building and performances, we produced “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” performed by the reknown Children’s Shakespeare Theater’s adult troupe, Strange Bedfellows, from Palisades, NY. Volunteers and Consultants from the region collaborated in transforming a rudimentary park pavilion into an unrecognizable fantasy land (& stage) for the sold-out performance. Regional town and school officials, along with local art and theater groups, were invited and attended, participating in the multigenerational and cultural dynamics of the production.
